MORE TO COME...

WHO WE ARE
We are Asian American and Pacific Islander artists, makers, and entrepreneurs taking a stand against AAPI hate and amplifying the voices, art, and work of our diverse community of creatives.
 WHY WE FIGHT
Incidents of anti-Asian discrimination, harassment, and violence have been on the rise since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Daily reports of Asians experiencing physical and verbal abuse have become all too common, but only recently have they garnered attention and condemnation by those outside of AAPI communities.

Violence against Asians in San Francisco, Oakland, New York, Atlanta, and in cities across the country and abroad, have escalated this year, resulting in trauma, injury, and death. Many of these heinous acts have been against the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our communities – seniors, youth, women, low-income and frontline workers.

While assaults and other incidents captured on video have gained the most attention, the majority of harassment and violence targeting Asians have gone unnoticed; they are unreported due to language barriers, lack of outreach, and mistrust of police and have been underreported by media. Some law enforcement and officials have refused to acknowledge anti-Asian violence as racially motivated and despite recent news coverage, many Americans remain unaware of the increase in hate incidents.

These incidents are a part of an alarming surge in a long history of anti-Asian racism, the result of othering, scapegoating, and xenophobia in political and media discourse. The rights, safety, and well-being of our diverse communities of AAPIs are at risk when ignorance, misheld beliefs, hate, and violence are perpetuated. When our experiences of victimization are denied or reframed by others, the message is sent that our voices don't matter. But your “model minority” will no longer remain silent!

We entreat you to join us in our campaign to raise awareness for anti-AAPI discrimination and hate.
